No Limits!

Two key events have shaped my thoughts as I have been pondering this message over the past week or so.

Firstly, on Sunday morning Joyce Reyment handed me a letter – Gareth Darlow's acceptance of Coatesville's call to ministry among us. Having expected the formal confirmation for more than a week after Gareth made brief contact to say the letter would be on its way shortly, I thought opening the envelope would be an anticlimax.

It wasn't. Read more!

On the Edge of a New Era

On Sunday 29 March Coatesville made a significant step of faith when a congregational meeting approved the Church Council and Joint Nominating Committee’s recommendation that we present a call to a new minister. We should know his response by the middle of April, and it is normal for ministers to provide three months notice of intention to move to a new congregation. Read more!

Generosity

At a recent Church Council Meeting, the Leaders were reflecting on the past year – our community, and the varied experiences we've encountered as we continue our journey in Christ in this region. We discussed the outstanding congregational response to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal – a spontaneous contribution by individuals amounting to just over $500. What a great response! Read more!

Something Going On

Well, it finally happened.

Over the past 7 or 8 years, our family has agreed that we should get Christmas lights for the outside of our house.

Year after year, we’ve had a ritual of driving around the streets with the kids spotting the houses with lighting displays, judging the best and the worst. You know what I’m talking about……the lighting displays seem to get more popular with each passing year. They range from the conservative, simple but elegant shows, through to the over the top, gaudy and sometimes downright nasty lighting blitzes! Each year we come home saying that next year, we’ll have a few lights ourselves. Each year we have failed to fulfil that promise. Read more!

Essential Packing for the Journey

Well, a year seems to have gone quickly.

This time last year we were preparing for the departure of Rev Steve – speculating about what 2008 would bring – hoping for certain things, realising though, that this year was going to be an interesting one for our community. Read more!

It’s springtime. The season of new life and new hope.

It seems to me that a week or so ago, we were cowering in the darkness of winter, closing our doors to the cold, spending more time indoors and in a sense, going into a period of hibernation. It might just be an ‘ageing’ thing for me, but I find each winter seems to get a bit longer and colder. After a while, the cold enters the bones and is hard to shake – yes, I’m sure it is an ageing thing! Read more!

A Message from your Leaders

Our ability to love is determined by our ability to have an open heart. When we judge we close part of our heart. We make one thing right and another wrong and respond in conditional ways, reducing our ability to give and receive love. God calls us to “love one another as I have loved you”. Read more!
